Hello! Welcome to my Blog. I’m Aine, the momtastic, crazy, simple first time mom, trying to raise a terrific toddler girl – C. A nurse by profession, but started to explore other options, in which I’ve found writing to be my passion. I am a full time working mom – at home! That’s right. I used to work outside the four corners of our little abode way back (let’s not get into details about the year, eh?), but found career and opportunities to make a living at home – even before C came.
I married my band mate, college schoolmate and bestfriend, Din. Being together for almost 9 years, this taught both of us a lot about ourselves. He discovered a side of me that I didn’t even know I had. We went through struggles together, but at the end of the day, we always manage to get out of those crazy loopholes, storms, and crazy rolller coaster rides no matter what. We have a beautiful love story and I’d like to share about God’s gift of love – that despite your differences, a strong and long-lasting marriage can work.
Wait, what? I work from home? Then that should be pretty easy! I get that a lot, but being a WAHM, with a cranky, fussy toddler who wants to explore everything around you, it is challenging, yet rewarding at the same time. Picture me this – me, wearing a toddler on my back, while doing household chores, while thinking about the next client meetings in the next few hours, mountains of laundry, not to mention cloth nappies, and more wifey duties. And while everyone else is having a nice day off during public holidays, here I am still doing the exact same things, because mommas don’t get holidays!
Why not get a nanny or a caregiver? No offence to those who chose to hire one, but me and my husband wanted to raise lil C on our own. We wanted to let her experience what it is like to have a family doing everything – TOGETHER. I salute all working moms, that despite their sacrifices to leave home for 8 – 12 hours a day, they still get to shed light to their home. So yes, it’s stressful, I have to be blunt, but even if given the chance to work outside, with less effort and work, I’d still choose what I have right now. Who could imagine that a simple home can have a lot of things going on inside? Who would have known that my daily routine is more on chasing after a toddler while sneaking some work that needs to be done in between? What do I get instead? Unlimited sloppy kisses, more time with my toddler, movie marathon dates with my husband (of course, still at home), and more lifetalks and play dates with my mommy friends. That my friends, is something that I wouldn’t trade with anything else. 🙂
I already have a lot in my plate, why do I even blog?
This blog is actually way overdue. When I started exploring work opportunities from home, I have always wanted to have my own piece online. I procrastinated, something that I’m not proud of, but at least, I got out of my “I’ll do it later” attitude and finally got the initiative to get started. I am a freelance writer – I help my clients inspire other people. I help them with their marketing efforts, and I finally got to realize that, I’ve been doing it for others, why not do it for myself?
It is also because I wanted to share my crazy, fun-filled journeys and adventures, filled with joyful experiences and mishaps. I don’t consider myself as an excellent blogger. I do know that I can write marketing pieces, but as a blogger, this is one thing that I’m starting to experiment, and it’s my pleasure to have you with us on this new journey that we are about to explore. I also started this blog because there’s a lot of things that I learn along the way – about motherhood, parenting, social media, my small business, and despite the fact that I’ve been working from home for 9 years (and counting), there’s still a lot of new things for me. I wanted to share it with others, serve as an inspiration, and I’d like to think of this blog as my safe haven – to be able to share stories and feelings without being judged, to be able to narrate our life and hopefully serve as a motivation to others.
Thank you for dropping by, and your time, and I do hope you get to enjoy reading my entries!
